International Energy Project Opportunities
Each year, the California Energy Commission, through its Energy Technology Export Program, helps companies develop international energy projects.
Under the program, energy audit teams conduct preliminary assessments of commercial and industrial facilities with the potential for energy efficiency improvements and the addition of on-site generation of power and steam. Typical facilities include commercial buildings, hotels, and manufacturers and processors of textiles, petrochemicals, pulp and paper, food products, steel, cement, and building materials.
To help identify energy efficiency opportunities in international market, the Energy Commission uses a risk/opportunity evaluation model that includes 28 factors. These findings are available in a detailed reported titled International Market Opportunities for Energy Efficiency Technologies and Services (PDF file, 302 pages, 5.9 MB). (To download a free copy of the Adobe Acrobat® Reader, visit the Adobe website.) Once projects are chosen, the Energy Commission helps California firms to obtain financing and finalize agreements with the site owners.
